Courtney and Jacques are a loving couple that enjoy a peaceful life with their dog Togi in Eagle River, Alaska. Courtney comes from a military family who have lived in several states and Europe. When they were stationed in Alaska, they knew it would be their permanent home. She cares deeply about all living things and has an undeterred drive to make this world a better place. Jacques is an immigrant whose family moved from Africa when he was just a child. He spent most of his youth and young adulthood in the lower 48 and once he met his soulmate, Courtney, he moved up to Alaska. He has a spirit of curiosity and openness that has led him to explore many aspects of life: art, music, science, hunting, fishing, hiking, and sports.

They enjoy spending time with family and friends around the fire pit, on a boat, snow machining, watching a good movie, or enjoying a good home cooked meal. When they are not spending time with friends and family, they have been on a home renovation journey, from which they have grown together, learned a lot about homes and each other.

Apart from having a successful career in Finance, Courtney is an avid reader, who you can find on weekend mornings in a comfy chair enjoying a good cup of coffee with a book in hand. She also enjoys creating artwork, spending time with friends outside hiking and paddleboarding, and practicing her latest hobby - playing the drums.

Jacques has always pursued ways he can help the community in a practical way as an engineer, and in a cultural way as a musician. As a full time engineer he helps improve public infrastructure and services. As a musician, he works part time for a non-profit to mentor and teach children about jazz, improvisation, and communication through the arts.

Before marriage, Courtney and Jacques discussed what their family would look like. Adoption was the first and only option for them. Going through the adoption process has been an unexpectedly long but very valuable process. They know the journey has only begun, and the preparation has made them more eager than ever to become parents. They can’t wait to welcome a child into their family to start the next chapter.
