We chose this path as a Valentine’s Day date after the unsuccessful fertility treatments we had went through. We were curious, but not sure if adoption was our path. Immediately, we connected with Tami and Victoria of Alaska Adoption Services. We knew after that workshop we wanted to adopt. I asked for an application and spent two days nonstop filling it out, fast forward, we became a waiting family. In August 2020, we were placed with our son, Noah, and the rest is history. Our worlds changed for the better and I couldn’t imagine having our son any other way. We are over-the-moon his adoption is finalized, but a piece of us is sad we don’t get to work with Tami and Victoria, as they became family! I would highly recommend working with this agency as they are the most caring individuals and want the best for Alaska’s children. All the free services they provide to Alaska birth moms in need are incredible. We are a success story because of Alaska Adoption services support.

We had always planned on adoption, but the expected anxiety and stress gave us a poor excuse to keep delaying. Finally, we decided it was time to get started no matter how hard it would be. We wanted to work with a local agency and had recently come across Alaska Adoption Services. We didn’t know what to expect, but working with Victoria and Tami made the whole experience just like working with family. The process was so much better than we could have imagined, which turned out to be another blessing in itself as we received news of our little boy blessing only 10 days before he was due. Victoria and Tami worked with us and the birth mom so that we were able to meet her prior to the due date. We were even able to be present during delivery. Our baby boy has been with us for just over one year and now we can’t imagine life without him!

It's hard to imagine what our lives would look like if we hadn't found Alaska Adoption Services! They were the necessary bridge between our son's birth mother and us, allowing her to choose us as parents for the most perfect little boy in the world. AAS made the entire process of adopting smooth and comforting, answering our many questions and building a personal relationship with us. They also prioritize ethical practices while working with expecting mothers, for which we're incredibly grateful. Adoption is what created my family and is a huge part of our story. It’s how I became a mother. I am blessed to welcome Oliver into our family forever and eternally grateful for his birth mother for the gift of life. I couldn’t imagine life without his sweet spirit and his big old baby smile. After years of unsuccessful fertility treatments, we decided to pursue adoption. We chose Alaska Adoption Services because we wanted to work with a local agency and because the stories on their webpage were so uplifting. Tami & Victoria were involved in the process from the very first workshop - keeping in touch by hosting a regular support group call for waiting families, emailing articles, sending information about grants, etc. We were in North Carolina when Tami called to tell us we had been selected as the adoptive family - literally four hours before Evie was born! Tami & Victoria helped navigate us through the whirlwind of emotions, hosted a Zoom call with Birth Mother and helped us form a bond with her, facilitated signing all the paperwork electronically, coordinated the complexities of picking Evie up three days after she was born, and attended the finalization hearing. They gave us all of the support we needed along the entire journey and answered the phone every time we needed some extra encouragement. Evie brings so much joy to our lives (and the lives of our family and friends) every single day as we watch her learn, grow and bond with everyone around her. We can’t imagine life without her!

We had been trying to grow our family and after about seven years felt that God was calling us to adopt and now our family has grown by one amazing little boy thanks to Alaska Adoption Services (AAS)! Adoption can be such a daunting adventure but both Tami and Victoria were right there to answer our questions quickly! 

Working with AAS we had the sense that we were part of a family and were not alone from the beginning stages to even now! When Tami called us with the news that our birth mom had chosen us I could hear the excitement in her voice and during our post placement visits with Victoria we could feel the joy she has for her job. "We started our open adoption journey, with Alaska Adoption Services (AAS), just about two years ago and we are now officially parents and just so incredibly in love with our miraculous son! We have been showered with kindness by friends, family, coworkers, and our church in so many loving ways that have supported our little family over the last 10 months; our hearts are full!

Be steadfast… this journey will vary for each family, we had a few unpredictable moments followed by emotional highs and lows; sometimes in one day, sometimes over a month’s time. Our champions proved to be our support system especially those already familiar in all the facets of adoption. Our family and friends were there by our side to bear witness, give solace, and celebrate as our journey unfolded. Jason and I always looked to one another for renewed understanding, encouragement, comfort, and peace in our shared decision to patiently pursue our family formation journey.

We now know we're meant to be matched with our perfect family when the time was right; we just can’t emphasize that enough! Our son is so loved by his birth mother and their family. 3 of our 5 adoptions have been through AAS, and we can't say enough good things about our experience in adopting through them.
