Hello - we’re Dean and Holly! 

We have been married for 7 years, and are ready to grow our family.  Our home is in the "cosmic hamlet by the sea", Homer, Alaska. Dean is a partner in an accounting firm and Holly, a former teacher, volunteers her time at a local nonprofit when she's not making art in her greenhouse.

Dean first visited the Kenai Peninsula around 10 years ago when he surprised his father with a “bucket list” fishing trip as a Father’s Day gift. Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, he was immediately taken with Alaska’s natural beauty and the ample outdoor adventures available.

Together, we returned to the Kenai Peninsula on our honeymoon, and Holly (originally a Californian and missing mountains in the landscape) fell in love with Homer instantly.   We vowed to live here “someday”, and very swiftly, one of the lessons we learned from the Covid pandemic is that Dean’s job could easily be done remotely --so why not live wherever we wanted? That summer, we decided to take the plunge and move our lives from New Orleans to Homer.

Our favorite thing to do is travel and explore new places.  Since Dean can take his work with him, we often travel to the lower 48- and we usually seize these opportunities to visit with friends and family and visit a part of the country which we have not yet gotten to see.

We like to spend our free time camping and exploring Alaska’s great outdoors. 

We live with our giant breed dog, Madge, who enjoys observing moose (from a distance) in the Summer and eating snow in the winter. In both seasons she loves curling up on the couch and watching TV with one of her many stuffed piggies. She’s a travel enthusiast, herself, and has accompanied us on several epic road trips from Homer to New Orleans.  We discussed adoption with her, and she agrees-- it's time for a new addition to the family.

One of our strongest values is giving back to our community and we are excited to share this with our future family.  We have chosen to build our family through adoption because we feel it is a more meaningful way to spend our resources and energy. We look forward to sharing our lives and passions with our children.  We have built a home of love, openness, humor, and understanding and we eagerly anticipate filling it with even more love to share as this next part of our life unfolds.
