We are Andrew and Rebecca. We hope you get to know us a little. We are excited to grow our family again. Two years ago, we welcomed our son Alex into our family with the support of Alaska Adoption Services. His adoption was a truly magical experience and he has brought so much joy into our lives. We look forward to sharing our love with a second child.

Both Andrew and Rebecca grew up in Eagle River, Alaska. Andrew has a brother and sister. Rebecca has two sisters. Even though we grew up in the same small town we did not meet until 2011 when our moms suggested that we go on a date. We had our first date at the Saturday Market, mostly to make our moms happy, but to our surprise, we liked spending time together and have been by each other’s side ever since. In 2019, we celebrated a small wedding with our friends and family on the mountaintop at Alyeska. 

Andrew is a geotechnical engineer which is a fancy way to say he gets to play in the dirt. Really, he studies soil to help plan the design for ground foundations. In his spare time, he likes to do woodwork and play video games. He also loves to get outdoors to hike, kayak, and fish. 

Rebecca is a stay-at-home mom who works a very flexible part-time hotel billing job. She was formerly in hotel management but decided it was important to be at home for our child’s early development. She fills her days taking care of Alex. They find all kinds of fun activities to do throughout the week like visiting the library for story time, an indoor playground in the winter, and the park in the summer. At home, Alex and Rebecca love to play in the backyard, read books, and sing songs. In her spare time, Rebecca loves to quilt, craft, cook new recipes and is an avid music lover. 

Alex is an extremely active little boy. His favorite things to do are to play outside and ride his bike. He has a fun sense of humor and really enjoys interacting with other people. He especially loves spending time with his local extended family who visit on a regular basis. We know Alex would welcome a sibling into the family with open arms. 

Together we like to have as many memorable experiences as possible. It’s important to us that Alex gets to explore and learn about the world around him. We love to travel and now share that love of traveling with Alex.

Our hope is to open our family up to a second child that we plan to show the same level of care and attention. Our extended family is supportive and look forward to adding another member to the family. We promise to honor the heritage of our children by actively engaging with their cultures any chance we get.
