Hello, we are Tamiah and Alex!

Thank you for taking time to view our profile and get to know our family. We have been together for 11 years and live in Anchorage with our cat, Lulu, and 3 dogs, Kodiak, Asiaq, and Xoodzi. We met in Anchorage and one of our first dates was a snowy winter hike. We both love Alaska and could not imagine raising a family anywhere else.

We spend as much time as possible outdoors with our dogs (and sometimes Lulu) enjoying all Alaska has to offer. In the summer, we love hiking, camping, fishing/dip netting, gardening, and berry picking. In the winter, we enjoy cross-country skiing/skijoring with the dogs and spending cozy time around a fire. Growing and harvesting our own food is one of our favorite parts of Alaskan life. When we aren’t exploring Alaska, we love to travel to new places and enjoy trying new foods, adventuring in the outdoors, and visiting local markets. We also cherish time spent with our family and close friends whether they live nearby in Anchorage or on the other side of the U.S. or world. We both have great appreciation for music and take time throughout the year to attend festivals and concerts.

Tamiah was born and raised in Alaska. She left for college and grad school, but missed the mountains, fishing, and blueberry picking and decided to move back. Tamiah runs a team that manages grants and contracts to support community services in Anchorage. This role is a perfect fit for her love of details, rules, and excel spreadsheets. In her free time, Tamiah can be found outside with the dogs, caring for her large collection of houseplants, cooking/baking, reading, and getting coffee or brunch with her tight knit group of friends.

Alex grew up in upstate New York (think cows, corn, and apples, not city lights) and first came to Alaska to be a camp counselor at a summer outdoor adventure camp. After catching his first salmon, he knew Alaska was meant to be his home. Alex is a veterinary technician, which is very handy when you have 4 pets. When not working, Alex loves listening to music from his extensive vinyl record collection, completing complex Lego sets, and working in the yard/garden.

Our home and life are full of joy and love, even when things get tough. Whether we are having a dance party with the dogs in our living room, trying something new in a foreign place, or hiking in the mountains, there is always a lot of laughter. We have always wanted to grow our family through adoption and are excited to welcome a child into our home and hearts. We can’t wait to take them on adventures and show them all the amazing things in the world.
